The refreshed Swift now comes with improved fuel efficiency of 10%.
The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India has silently launched the refreshed version of its popular hatchback Swift at a starting price of Rs.4.42 lakh. Though the updates are not major, the refreshed Swift now comes with improved fuel efficiency of 10%.
2014 Swift is available in petrol and diesel variants. Petrol variant is powered by a 1197cc, K series VVT engine which is now marginally less powerful (83.1bhp instead of 85.8bhp) but delivers a good fuel efficiency figure of 20.4 kpl instead of 18.6 kpl. Meanwhile, the diesel model is powered by a 1248cc, DDiS diesel engine developing 75bhp of power and 190Nm of torque and returns a fuel economy of 25.2kpl. To improve the efficiency, Maruti has made several tweaks in the engine leading to improved thermal efficiency and reduced frictional losses.
Exterior changes include a redesigned front bumper and a new honeycomb front grille. The car comes with a larger air dam and silver accents for fog lamp housings. It also gets new design for alloy wheels and wheel caps.
The cabin has received quite a handful of changes that make it a more feature-rich car than earlier. Remote locking with push button start, Bluetooth for the audio player, rear adjustable headrests, a 60:40 split rear seat, electric retractable outside mirrors, reverse parking sensor etc are some of the new changes.
The car will be available in Pearl Arctic White, Glistering Grey, Silky Silver, Mysterious Violet, Fire Red and Granite Grey.
The new Swift competes with the existing lot of premium hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo and the Hyundai Grand i10.
