5Broken Cameras directed by Guy Davidi and Emad Burnat will be the inaugural film.
The 6th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala will be held in Trivandrum from the 7th to 11th June 2013.
The film festival is a unique venture in India organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs as part of its long mission to energize the vibrant documentary and short film movement in the state. The festival aims to map and reflect the exploding nature of the medium in its many facets of creativity and resistance. 5Broken Cameras directed by Guy Davidi and Emad Burnat will be the inaugural film and there will be special screening of the film To Let the World In directed by Avijit Mukul. Many famous national and international films will be screened under various categories.
The media is now used by image-makers from all walks of life to express, experiment, learn and as an effective tool to conscientise and bring about social change. IDSFFK will give awards and cash prizes in various categories such as Best Long Documentary, Best Short Documentary, Best Short Fiction, Best Animation, Best Music Video and Best Campus Film.
