India’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd finally unveiled its new 100cc bike-the Bajaj Discover 100T. The Discover 100 T is positioned at the upper-end of the mass market, and will compete against the Passion Pro from Hero and Dream Yuga from Honda. The Bajaj plans to sell 40,000-45,000 units of Discover 100T every month.
“For too long, the average commuter had to be satisfied with boring and undifferentiated 100cc bikes. While 100cc bikes do offer good mileage, their style, features and performance leave a lot to be desired. The steady growth of the more expensive 100cc bikes at the cost of the cheaper models is a clear evidence of this.” K Srinivas, President (Motorcycle business), Bajaj Auto said.
The Discover 100T shares a lot of things with the 125ST. Instead of a rear mono-shock suspension in 125ST, 100T has a gas-filled Nitrox shocks. Discover 100T is powered by Bajaj’s patented DTS-I 4 valves and a 100cc engine mated to a 5-speed transmission which delivers 10.2PS @ 9,000rpm, which is 30 per cent more than any bike in this segment. The company claims that the bike will return an impressive mileage of 87kmpl.
The Bajaj Discover 100T also has other features such as Nitrox rear shock absorbers, electric starter, auto choke, DC headlamp etc .The bike will be available in four colours namely – Flame red, Brilliant blue, Black red and Black blue.
The price of Discover 100T will be Rs 50, 500 (ex-showroom Delhi)
