When the project gets completed, the bus station will provide an end to traffic and parking woes in the area.
In order to provide better transportation facilities near the Technopark, TRIDA has launched the construction of a bus station in Kazhakuttam. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy laid the foundation stone for the bus station and a commercial complex on Monday.
The bus station and commercial complex are components of the TRIDA centre that will be established on a plot of 2.43 acres that was transferred by the Technopark. The bus station which is being built at a cost of Rs.12 crore can park up to 15 buses at a time.
It has also been envisaged to construct a ladies hostel and a parking plaza as part of the multipurpose facility that will come up by the side of the National Highway-66 bypass. There is also a demand for constructing a comfort facility along with the bus station.
The construction of a proper bus station near Technopark where thousands of people commute daily is a long pending demand. At present there is only a small bus waiting shed near the Technopark gate. When the project gets completed, the bus station will provide an end to traffic and parking woes in the area.
