The three new wifi hotspots are coming at Shanghumugham and Kovalam beaches and the Napier museum. Great news for the foreign and domestic tourists. There are already three wifi facilities which have been made available in Thiruvananthapuram central railway station and Thiruvananthapuram international airport.

It’s in last year where the government of Kerala has declared internet as a basic human right. This move was in line with the direction provided by the UN, which believes all citizens must be able to access the internet to utilize their right freedom of expression and opinion.

The facility is being installed by RailTel Corporation– one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in India at a cost of ₹20.18 lakh.

There will be seven Wi-Fi access points in Kovalam beach, 12 in the Napier Museum and four in Shanghumugham beach. The broadband speed in these places will be a whopping speed of 100Mbps.

The administrative sanction of these three wifi spots has been given by the district collector K. Vasuki.
