Dell launches Venue tablets with Android and Windows 8 OS

The design of the tablets is on par with Samsung’s mid-sized Android tablet.

Dell has launched two Venue tablets with Android OS, and two with Windows 8.1 OS at an event in New York. The tablets will come with screen sizes ranging from 7 inches to 11 inches.  Venue 7 and Venue 8 are the two budget friendly Android tablet while Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro are the new Windows 8.1 powered tablets.

The design of the tablets is on par with Samsung’s mid-sized Android slates. The tablets have an expected battery life of 8-11 hours.

Dell Venue 7

Dell Venue 7 is the smaller lightweight 7-inch tablet that weighs roughly 317gram. Venue 7 sports a 1280×800 resolution IPS LCD and is powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail Plus processor.  It runs the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and Dell claims it should receive a software update in the near future. It has a 2GB of RAM and comes with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded using microSD.

Venue 7 also comes with a 3-megapixel rear camera and a VGA one on the front. For connectivity it uses 4G, Wi-fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS, USB 3.0, headphones and SD cards. Venue 7 is priced at $149.99 for the Wi-fi only model.

Dell Venue 8

Venue 8 is Dell’s larger Android tablet offers pretty much the exact same specs as the 7-inch model. It sports an 8-inch screen with 1280 x 800-pixel IPS display and weighs 362 gram. Venue 8 is powered by a 2GHz dual-core Intel Z2580 processor and comes with a 2GB of system RAM.

Venue 8 has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, with the other features looking similar to the Venue 7, apart from there being a 32GB option for the Venue 8. It also has 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS, USB 3.0, headphones and SD cards. Venue 8 is priced at $179.99 (Wi-fi only model).

Venue 8 Pro

Venue 8 Pro

Venue 8 Pro features an 8-inch screen with 1280×800 resolution IPS display and weighs 388 grams. It is powered by an Intel quad-core Atom “Bay Trail” processor and runs Windows 8.1 OS. Venue 8 Pro comes in two variant 32/64GB storage space with microSD card slot.

It has a 5-megapixel back camera and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. The Venue 8 Pro will be priced at $300.

Venue 11 Pro

Venue 11 Pro is the flagship tablet of the company and features a 11-inch screen with 1920×1080 resolution display. The device weighs 726 grams and is powered by an Intel Atom “Bay Trail” processor with optional Intel Core i3 or i5 “Haswell” processor. It has 2GB of RAM which can be expanded up to 8GB. It has NFC capabilities and an 8-megapixel back camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The battery supports 11 hour of backup. The tablet has inbuilt space of 32GB and can be expanded up to 256GB. Venue 11 Pro starts at $499.

With the launch of the Venue 7 and 8, there are more budget Android tablets than ever. While Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro is an alternative to Microsoft’s Surface tablet. The tablets will be available in US and other market in October.
