District Tourism Promotion Council is renovating and upgrading the facilities at Ponmudi Hill Station and Veli Tourist Village - two major tourist destination in Trivandrum.
Soon the dilapidated pool at Veli Tourist Village will get a new lease of life as District Tourism Promotion Council has decided to renovate the pool to international standards at a cost of Rs 2.47 crore.
Along with Swimming pool, DTPC will also renovate the basic infrastructure facilities of Veli Tourist Village. This will include a new snack bar and a barbeque counter and new parking facility for the visitors. Ticket counter, toilets and water purifying facility etc. will be renovated as part of the project.There will be a special entrance with which people can access the new pool. DTPC is envisaging the destination as an ideal spot for pool-side parties.
Ponmudi too gets new facilities
Ponmudi will also get new facilities. DTPC is coming up with a project to improve the facilities and amenities at Ponmudi at a cost of Rs.2.07 crore. The Lower Sanatorium area of Ponmudi, which was lying in a neglected state, will be fully renovated.
An adventure park for children, tree top view and a water fountain are the other facilities that would come up at Ponmudi.
The parking area will be renovated and sign boards and bus shelters will be made. The dilapidated tree houses and bamboo shelters will be repaired and new art sculptures will be placed in the area. The renovation of amenities for tourist at Ponmudi is in its final stages. With the competition of amenity centre, visitors will have facilities such as snack bar, information desk and toilet complex.
