Postal ATM at New Delhi
The first postal ATM in Kerala will come up in the state capital.
The postal ATM being introduced by the India Post as part of IT modernization project will be launched in General Post Office (GPO) at Pulimoodu. The trial run of the ATM has been successful.
The ATM card will carry the trademark red colour of India Post topped by the logo of the department.
The department is issuing ATM cards to postal savings bank account holders through which they can withdraw money from Postal ATMs. The ATM card will carry the trademark red colour of India Post topped by the logo of the department. Any post office connected to core banking network can be brought under this service. Just like using ATMs of banks mobile alerts will be issued on registered mobile number of the customer as soon as a transaction is done.
The new ATMs will benefit 11.77 lakh postal savings account holders in the city. Currently, transaction cost of withdrawal from a normal ATM is Rs 15-18. This charge will be significantly lower in postal ATMs.
A total of 56 postal ATMs are coming up in the state, 51 head post offices and five sub-post offices, as part of modernization project. The first Post Office Savings Bank ATM was opened in Chennai Last year followed by Delhi and Andhra Pradesh.
