IPL And International Cricket Matches Will Soon Come to Trivandrum Sport’s Hub!

The lack of interest from the Kerala Football Association forced the stadium authorities to hand over the stadium to KCA.

If reports are true, Trivandrumites will soon be able to enjoy IPL and International Cricket Matches at the Trivandrum Sports Hub as Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has decided to take over the stadium.

Now, KCA will be able to host International cricket matches which are allotted to them. This also means there is chance to host next season’s IPL matches here at Sport’s Hub. KCA decided to take over the Sports Hub as Kochi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium is hosting the Under-17 World Cup in 2017. Currently Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium is under the control Kerala Football Association.

Now, KCA will be able to host International cricket matches which are allotted to them at the Sport’s Hub.

The preliminary discussion between KCA and Sport’s Hub has been completed successfully. Further discussions are needed to sort out revenue sharing and other formalities. KCA will soon sign the contract with Karyavattom Sports Facilities Limited, company in charge of the Sport’s Hub.

This move also means that, there will be less football matches at the Sport’s Hub. The lack of interest from the Kerala Football Association forced the stadium authorities to hand over the stadium to KCA.

During the last SAFF Cup, there was a deliberate attempt to portray Trivandrum as “not a suitable place to host football”.

During the last SAFF Cup, there was a deliberate attempt to portray Trivandrum as “not a suitable place to host football”. Due to low publicity and advertisement, audience turn out at SAFF Cup was very low during the initial matches. However, turn out increased as the tournament progressed and during the final, Trivandrum Sport’s Hub recorded a whopping 45,000 spectators – Highest spectator count in the history of SAFF Cup. Meanwhile, only 2000 people came to India-Afghanistan World cup qualifier match, at Kochi.
