Kappil Beach to get the taste of ‘Adventure tourism’

Apart from Kappil, Muzhippilangad in Kannur and Wagamon on the Kottayam-Idukki border will also have adventure tourism centres.

Soon people visiting Kappil Beach in Trivandrum can get the taste of ‘Adventure tourism’ as  Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) attempt to prepare master plan for adventure tourism in the area is entering final steps.

KATPS’s plan to develop as adventure tourism centres in various parts of the state is entering a crucial phase with five firms submitting bid documents to become consultants for the master plans. The firm thus selected will then help the Society prepare the master plans, with advice on the activities that can be taken up in each destination.

Kappil in Trivandrum is a very unique beach with rare combination of backwaters and the sea on two sides of a main road.

Kappil in Trivandrum is a very unique beach with rare combination of backwaters and the sea on two sides of a main road. Located near Varkala, Kappil Beach is well connected by roads to all parts of Kerala. The backwater area is considered ideal for various water sports like boating, canoeing and catamaran sailing.

Apart from Kappil, Muzhippilangad in Kannur and Wagamon on the Kottayam-Idukki border will also have adventure tourism centres.

Last year, Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society invited bids to get the master plan moving but only three firms submitted the bid. Fortunately, this time 5 companies, most of them reputed international firms, have come forward.  A technical presentation by the firms shortlisted, along with a financial bid, will be organised later this month, after which the consultancy will be selected.
