After recently receiving two international popularity awards, Kerala adds one more achievement to its cap. According to a survey conducted by the US based Conde Nast Traveller magazine, Kerala has been voted ‘favourite Indian leisure destination’ of the year.

“We are honoured to be recognised as a place to relax and rejuvenate by travellers. Kerala is known for its natural beauty and the state’s historical connections with many other parts of the world have contributed to its popularity,” said tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran.
Tourism principal secretary Dr Venu V said, “Be it stay on a houseboat cruising through serene backwaters, relaxing on the pristine beaches or culture, tradition and art, Kerala offers a perfect all-in-one leisure experience” Said to TOI.
Kerala shares this spot with Goa this time. Recently, the travel website, Lonely Planet has announced Kerala as the best family destination. According to Travel + Leisure magazine, the state is a top honeymoon spot. The award by the travel magazine showcases best travel opportunities available around the world and in India and anoint the best service providers, the preferred places to stay and the destinations most Indians love to visit. Kerala figured in nearly 50 categories across the tourism sector.
