KSEB launches Innovation zone at Startup Village

Already 15 students have submitted technological ideas to associate with the KSEB innovation zone.

Kerala State Electricity Board opened an innovation zone in Startup village Kochi with an aim to improve the energy situation on the state by creating innovative ideas and developing new technologies.

While inaugurating the innovation zone, Aryadan Mohammed, Minister for Power and Transport said that the new innovative zone at the Startup Village will benefit the electricity board to increase its efficiency in all areas of operation.

Currently the facility can accommodate nearly 100 young entrepreneurs to incubate their ideas. Selection process of the students will be handled by KSEB and Startup Village. Already 15 students have submitted technological ideas to associate with the KSEB innovation zone. The innovation zone that spread over 2,500sq ft will train students in the skills required to launch energy based businesses and KSEB will provide with funds needed for their operation. Apart from these, the board will also give technical and non-technical support while Startup Village will develop, own and execute the programme.

The KSEB innovation park will follow the model of the National Electrical Mobility Mission 2020. The zone will help the students to work together with board to get practical exposure about industry related problems faced by the power sector. It will also help KSEB to develop in-house technology solutions which can be used on other state and countries.
