La Liga: Barcelona back on top!

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid has also got 57 points, but Barca are on top in goal difference.

As Atletico Madrid suffered a shocking defeat from Almeria 2-0, Barcelona moved back to top position with a scintillating 4-1 victory over Sevilla. It was Sevilla who scored first when a shot from Alberto Moreno went past Victor Valdes after a deflection from Marc Bartra. After gaining the lead, Sevilla continued to attack Barca’s goal post, but couldn’t raise the lead. The equaliser came from Alexis Sanchez when he headed in a free-kick from a position which appeared to be offside.

The game saw Messi coming back to his scoring ways. Messi’s goal gave 2-1 lead to to Barca just before halftime. The second half saw goals from Messi and Fabregas and took Barca to a convincing victory over Sevilla. With this win, Barca got back to top position with 57 points. The second place is held by Real Madrid who defeated Villarreal 4-2 even in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
