#EnteThiruvananthapuram: Magic Planet, an entirely magic-themed complex claimed to be the first of its kind in India, is coming up in Trivandrum with the support of The Academy of Magical Sciences.
Magic Planet which will come up at the Kinfra Film and Video Park near Kazhakkoottam is Asia’s first institution to offer formal training for the children to experience science, technology, art and literature through magic.
The work on the project was inaugurated by Minister for Culture Shri K C Joseph and Minister for Health Shri V S Sivakumar on February 10 at Gandhi Park, East Fort Trivandrum. Magic Planet will be opened to public on October 31 which is observed as the World Magic Day in honour of Harry Houdini.
Magic Planet which spreads over 1.5 acres will feature a number of attractions including a mirror maze, an underground tunnel, a virtual supermarket to build mathematical skills, shadow plays etc. Apart from these, the complex will also house a museum which features the history of magic from 5000 BC, a children’s park, a food court, theatres for live performances and an R&D centre.
A ‘magical’ recreation of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, a work which has magic as the main theme, will be one of the key attractions of the complex. It will also have a dedicated area where street magicians will showcase traditional tricks, under a tree and children can gather around to watch the show.
When the Magic Planet is opened, it will become a major tourist attraction in the city.
