Card Payment Now Accepted at Trivandrum Medical College!
In an effort to provide healthful food at cost-effective prices to the patients, visitors, staffs and students, a new canteen named ‘Saras’ has been set at the Medical College Hospital. The canteen is set using a budget of Rs 1.5 crore from the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and is being run and maintained by Lotus Food Plaza. The canteen can feed almost 1,500 persons per day, 80 at a time.
The canteen features a diet kitchen which serves food items like oats, wheat dosa, cornflakes etc.
The canteen features a general kitchen and diet kitchen. While the general kitchen serves cuisines like South Indian, Chinese and North Indian, the general kitchen will function as a diet kitchen with food items like oats, wheat dosa, cornflakes etc. Another specialty of this canteen is the fully automated kitchen. Freezers and food processing machines are also availed to keep ample quantities of fish, meat and vegetables. Steamers and machines are also there to prepare chapathis.
To offer the best service, experienced chefs and hotel management graduates have also been hired.
The canteen is located at renovated building of Old House Surgeons’ quarters near the Super Specialty Block. Special areas have been assigned in the canteen for service, dining and waiting. The food will be also distributed through selected outlets located at OP complex.
