Trivandrum to host first ever Multisport Beach Festival in India

Kerala Multisport Beach Festival 2014 is a first of its kind festival to be held in the country.

#EnteThiruvananthapuram: Here is a good news to those who love to play with sand and water, as well as enjoy beach sport activities.  Rashtriya Life Saving Society India is hosting the first ever multi-sport beach festival called ‘Kerala Multisport Beach Festival 2014’ at Trivandrum. The Beach Sport Festival will be held in Shanghumukham Beach, Vettukadu Beach and Kovalam Beach from 26th February to 2nd March.

Jointly supported by State Government, Kerala Tourism and Australian Sport Outreach Programme, Kerala Multisport Beach Festival 2014 aims to promote ‘Emerging Beach Culture’. Sports culture around the beach is very important to the ‘Australian way of life’ and this festival will foster the exchange of cultures amongst Australia and India.

The event will cover 5 different sports events – Beach Soccer; a variant of football played on the beach,  Beach Volleyball; volleyball played on the sand court, Triathlon; multiple-stage competition involving the completion of 3 continuous endurance disciplines, Netball; played by two teams of seven players and Life Saving Sports; which combines athletic ability with lifesaving skills. Many of these events will be held during the day and under lights which make this event spectacular.

Along with the beach festival, a Sports Development Conference promoting 3 major themes – Sports and CSR, Partnerships and Knowledge Building and Sports Tourism will be conducted. The conference will feature eminent speakers from the Government in India and Australia, Corporate, Sports Organisations and other NGO’s.  Apart from these, there are many non-sporting activities such as Sea food festival, Sand Sculpture, Surfing Demonstration, Beach cleanup and Australian Rule Football Demonstration.
