The OnePlus 2 is also the company’s first handset to ship with its own Oxygen OS, based on Android 5.1.
OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone maker has finally announced its second flagship handset – the OnePlus 2, one of most anticipated smartphone. The OnePlus 2 will go on sale in India on August 11 at a starting price of Rs. 22,999. The 64GB variant will be priced at Rs.24,999. The device will be available on Amazon through invite-only model.
The OnePlus 2 sports a 5.5-inch, 1080p screen and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC clocked at 1.8GHz and coupled with an Adreno 430 GPU. The 16GB variant will have 3GB of RAM while the 64GB variant will have 4GB of RAM.
The OnePlus 2 is also the company’s first handset to ship with its own Oxygen OS, based on Android 5.1. The company says the platform is “a refreshing take on the pure Android experience” and allows for “subtle” personalization of the device, like allowing you to switch between using hardware or on-screen buttons.
For imaging, the phone features a 13-megapixel primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization while the front facing camera lets you shoot selfies at 5 Megapixels. The real upgrade of the camera lies within the pixel density. OnePlus introduced 1.3um sensors instead of previous 1.12um. This means image will be clearer in dark environments and there will be fewer blurry shots.
The phone supports 4G Nano-SIM cards (dual-SIM dual standby), as well as USB Type-C connectivity (with the cable reversible at both ends). It runs on a 3300mAh battery, and has a fingerprint sensor that can store up to 5 prints and unlock in under 0.5 seconds. Sadly, there is no NFC support. According to OnePlus “most of our users weren’t using” it.
