Panic button be made mandatory in all mobile phones from 2017
The Department of Telecommunications has decided that all mobile phones sold in India from next year should feature a dedicated ‘panic button’ which will send out warnings in the time of emergency. This add-on of panic button is to ensure safety for women during emergency situations and will facilitate notifying the concerned by a single press rather than dialing emergency numbers.
The panic button will ensure safety of women during emergency situations and will alert authorities by a single press!
As per the Panic button and Global Positioning System facility in all mobile phone handsets Rules, 2016, notified by Department of Telecommunications on April 22nd, GPS is also made obligatory in all mobile phones sold from January 2018. Though the phone manufacturers hasn’t responded or decided on this decision, the basic idea of panic button seems very easy and innovative.
No mobile manufacturers can sell their phone in India without a panic button from 2017 and GPS facility from 2018!
All you need is to press the panic button during the time of emergency and the nearest security agency will be notified. Enabling GPS in all mobile phones will help the officials in tracking the location clearly so that the rescue mission can be carried out effectively.
