Rs.20 Crore Beautification Project For Kochi Ahead of FIFA Under-17 World Cup!

The government has allotted a sum of Rs.20 crore for the beautification plan submitted by the district administration to make use of the full potential the world cup.

As part of beautification for the upcoming FIFA under-17 World Cup at Kochi. Major streets in the city will be painted with beautiful paintings and murals reflecting its heritage values and natural beauty.

It will not be limited to Rs20 crore. We are planning to tie up with local bodies to present a holistic view of Kochi before international players and visitors,” said District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla to The Hindu.

The beautification plan involves painting walls of major streets in Kochi with themes that reflects the heritage and cultural values of Kochi and Kerala.

Other plans include improving City’s infrastructure and increasing the cleanliness standards. Apart from these, there will be a complete package for transportation of visitors to hotels and to the match venue and practice grounds. Local hospitality sector will be roped in to come up with their own plans tap the immense revenue potential.
