Soon Neyyar Dam, one of the popular tourist place in Trivandrum, will be facelifted into a full-fledged tourist destination at a cost of Rs.4.65 crore.

The project aims to develop Neyyar Dam as a popular destination which attracts both foreign and domestic tourists. The amount will be used to develop infrastructure and recreational facilities. The development project will be modelled on the lines of the Malampuzha garden in Palakkad.
An information centre, water fountain, wash rooms, food court, and shops are to be set up, apart from landscaping and illuminating the garden. The main attraction will be the eight-storey high watch tower that offers a panoramic view of the Neyyar wildlife sanctuary, dam, and garden.
An 8-Storey high ‘Watch Tower’ will be the main tourist attraction at Neyyar Dam.
Regarding the recreational facilities, a family zone will be created near the boat landing facility of the DTPC. The children’s park will be renovated with new play equipment and more rides. The landscaping and beautification project includes renovation of the walkway of the dam and maintenance of the roads leading to the top of the dam from the garden. There will also be a tree court and photo-points at the vantage points on the dam premises.
The project proposal is now waiting for the administrative sanction from the government. The implementation agency to execute the works will be decided after getting the approval. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the District Collector is to be created for the project and to ensure that the destination becomes self-sufficient.
