Finally the very narrow stretch from Ayurveda College Junction to Kunnumpuram road will be widened in order to prevent traffic snarls.

The congested stretch will be widened into a 15-metre carriageway and for this a sum of Rs.8 crore has been allotted.

Back in 2009, government has given administrative sanction for acquiring land at a cost of Rs.70 lakh. If works don’t start soon, this fund will be lapsed soon. The Chief Engineer had sought an additional Rs.7.3 crore to acquire land. However a separate allocation of fund will be needed for construction of road and the estimate will be worked out soon.

It is high time that the road should be widened as, many educational institutions and movie theatres in the area add traffic snarls on this stretch. Moreover, the stretch is used by hundreds who commute from Thampanoor-Overbridge stretch to Pettah, Vanchiyoor, and Kaithamukku. The link road is also used for diverting traffic when rallies are taken along M.G. Road.

Meanwhile, the proposal to widen the Ambujavilasom road that connects Pulimoodu to Kunnumpuram is yet to take off.
