The rest room at Vithura is coming up at Swaraj Island Park on the way to Ponmudi. It will have a coffee bar and toilets.

The construction of a new 16-room guest house has started at Ponmudi. This will support the existing facilities which include a 15-room guest house run by the Tourism Department and the Tourist Amenity Centre of the Forest Department at Upper Sanitorium which has a cafeteria, restaurant, toilets and an ‘interpretation’ centre. In addition to this, the KTDC is operating ten quarters, a canteen and a conference hall at Ponmudi.

The topic was raised in the Assembly by D K Murali who wanted the government to form a Tourism Hub linking Varkala, Ponmudi and Kovalam and create master plans for their development.
