The agreement between KCA and greenfield Stadium, will open the gates for the conduct of international, national and also IPL cricket matches at the state capital.

Soon Trivandrumites will be able to watch international and IPL cricket matches at the Sports Hub as Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) signed an agreement with Karyavattom Sports Facilities Ltd (KSFL), which operates the Greenfield International Stadium in Kariavattom.

As per the agreement, the KCA will host International and IPL matches at the Sports Hub until November 18, 2027. KCA can use the stadium for 180 days in a year (from October 1 to January 31 and April 1 to May 30). KSFL will construct the pitch at the stadium with technical support from KCA.

As per the agreement, the KCA will host International and IPL matches at the Sports Hub until November 18, 2027.

The KCA will be responsible for the maintenance of the play area for a period of 11 years. Outside of the 180 days, KCA can use the stadium on other days by paying extra. The laying of the pitch is expected to take 45 days and the games will be conducted three months after the pitch is ready.

Drop-In Pitches

Drop-in Pitches will be introduced at the stadium very soon. With this, Greenfield Stadium will become world’s third drop-in pitches after Australia and New Zealand. A drop-in pitch is one that is prepared elsewhere and dropped into its predetermined place before a match. This allows the stadium to host other sports and events without damaging the pitch. The drop-in pitch will cost Rs8-10 crore and is expected to be ready by next year.
