Stations Under Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division To Get More Facilities!

Free medical centres on the lines of the one rolled out in Trivandrum Central will be launched in other important railway stations.

If reports are to be believed, railway stations under the jurisdiction of Thiruvananthapuram railway division will have many modern facilities soon. The initiative include providing quality food and increasing the hygiene and sanitation of railway station and trains.

As part of the scheme, railways will start ‘Jan Ahar’ programme which provides quality food at cheaper rate, at all major stations. Catering service and management will be carried out with the support of Kudumbashree Mission. Jan Ahaar Cafeterias will provide “economy meals and popular regional cuisines on platform at various stations”. They are self-service and operate 24×7. The service will be quick and will be patterned on take-away restaurants.

Another initiative is to provide On-Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) on 26 trains of Thiruvananthapuram railway division. The staff deployed on contract in these trains will clean the coaches as and when required or when demanded by passengers through SMS.

The commuters can look forward for LED display units in major railway stations before Onam.
