Suraj Venjaramood bags National Award for Best Actor
Winners of the prestigious 61st National Film Awards have been announced today.
Noted comedy artist of Malayalam cinema, Suraj Venjaramood bagged the award for the Best Actor for the film Perariyathavar. Suraj shares the best actor award with Raj Kumar Yadav for the film Shahid.
Rajeev Ravi won the award for best cinematography for the film Liars Dias directed by his wife Geethu Mohandas while Anil Radhakrishna Menon’s North 24 Katham has been adjudged best Malayalam film.
The award for the Best Film on Environment Conservation was also given to Perariyathavar. Perariyathavar, directed by Dr. Biju revolves around two sweepers and the problems that they encounter in life depicting the agonies of the marginalized section of society.
Suraj Venjaramood said that he is presenting this award to Malayalam film industry and also to the Malayalam language. Since Suraj hails from Trivandrum, this award is indeed a proud moment for all Trivandrumites as well as for the whole state.
