Recently, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has conducted a series of quality of service tests in Trivandrum and their results have now been published.
In Trivandrum, the drive by tests was conducted over a range of 350 kilometres. The telecom operators were assessed on all technologies in the circle, including 2G, 3G, and CDMA. The Telecom providers active in Trivandrum include are Airtel, Aircel, Idea, Vodafone, RCOM, BSNL, DoCoMo, MTS, Reliance and TATA.
These are the results
One of the main objectives of these tests was to verify if telecom operators are meeting the required call drop benchmarks. The test shows that Telecom companies Airtel 2G, DoCoMo 2G, Aircel 2G and 3G failed the call drop rate benchmark. DoCoMo 3G was the only provider who did not meet the call block rate benchmark. Airtel on 2G was the only operator to fail in the call quality measurements. All operators in the circle met the call set up rate benchmark of greater than 95%.
It seems like Vodafone provides the best quality of service in Trivandrum while Airtel and Aircel provide the worst.
The tests were conducted between 1 June to 3 June 2016. The Independent tests were conducted by the audit agency CS Datamation. These tests are part of several rounds of drive-by tests conducted by Trai across the nation.
