Trivandrum City To Be Finally Free From Eye Soaring Flex-boards!

waste management continue to be a major problem for the city since the closing of waste treatment plant at Vilappilshala.

Trivandrum City Corporation has started its campaign against flex-boards being put up in public places. Civic body has given an ultimatum to political parties, associations and firms to remove flex-boards in public places before June 20.

The removal of flex boards have become an impediment to the civic body’s efforts to manage waste. Flex boards are causing inconvenience to pedestrians and the plastic material are difficult to decompose causing an environmental concern.  The abandoned flex-boards often got absorbed in the earth causing environmental damage.

The issue of flex boards came up for discussion at the council meeting held on May 27. The civic body has decided to bring in partial restrictions on banners and flex boards in July and later impose a ban on erection of public materials in public places.

Meanwhile, waste management continue to be a major problem for the city since the closing of waste treatment plant at Vilappilshala.  Since then Corporation has set its focus on decentralised waste management. Many schemes were introduced such as setting up of aerobic bins and bio-gas plants but found no success.
