The flower show will be jointly hosted by the Kerala Tourism, Rose society, Agri-horti society and the city corporation.
The sprawling lawns of the Kanakakkunnu Palace will once again turn into a veritable flower garden as the city hosts one of its prestigious events –The Flower show. As per the current plan, the show will be held at Kanakakkunnu palace grounds from January 5 to 12.
The flower show will be jointly hosted by the Kerala Tourism, Rose society, Agri-horti society and the city corporation. The show was cancelled for the last two years due to lack of venue. The common venue Kanakakkunnu palace was given to Grand Kerala shopping festival and the idea of flower-show had to be dropped.
The flower show will feature around 25,000-30,000 exhibits. A major share of the exhibits will be sourced from individual flori-culturists, nurseries within the state and from places like Nagercoil and Bangalore. Most of the exhibits that featured at the Bangalore flower-show held last month will find a place in the Trivandrum flower-show too. The organizers are also planning to add imported exhibits from Holland for the show.
It will also be a blend of cultural shows featuring performances of well-known artists and light and sound shows with the flower-show. The total cost of the flower show is expected to be Rs 75 lakh.
Trivandrum has been hosting Flower show for the past 40 years. It’s a prestigious event for the capital city and the organizers are giving their best to make it happen in 2014.
