Trivandrum-Kasergode Highway To Be Widened To 6-Lane! Work Will Start in May

The work at Kannur and Kozhikode will start in June and July. The whole project will be completed in 3 years.

If the reports are true,  State government is planning to widen the Kasergode-Trivandrum Highway into a 6-lane road. Earlier it was planned to widen the road with a width of 45 meters but considering the increasing vehicle density on Kerala roads, it was decided to widen the highway to 6-lane.

As per the new design, each side of the highway will be widened to a width of 21-meters on each side and a service road of width 5.5 meters.

However, as per the new design, each side of the highway will be widened to a width of 21-meters. Earlier it was planned to widen each side to a width of 15 meters. Meanwhile, the width of the median will be reduced to 2-3 meter from 4-5 meter. And the service road which was planned to be constructed at a width of 7 meters will only have a width of 5.5 meters.

The work at Kasergode side will start in May and work at Kannur and Kozhikode will start in June and July.

The new plan will increase the project cost at least by 20% and the work will start on May at Kasergode side. Around 65% of the land acquisition process has been completed at Kasergode. The project will cost at Rs3000 crore at KAsergode alone. The work at Kannur and Kozhikode will start in June and July. The whole project will be completed in 3 years.
