Trivandrum Passport office 6th Best in the country!

Compared to the previous year, 2015 saw an increase of 21,000 applications.

The passport office in Trivandrum is the sixth best passport office in the country in terms of speed of issuing fresh passports.

The average time taken by the Trivandrum Passport office in issuing new passport is just 18 days, that too covering, four police districts under it -Trivandrum city and Rural & Kollam city and Rural. The first place goes to Telangana (eight days) followed by Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Goa (12 each) and Delhi (14 days).

This efficiency was achieved after the police verification was switched over to a system in which the respective commissioners and SPs download personal details of the applicants right from the website, unlike the conventional method of making personal inquiry for an individual’s data.

The state is third in the country in terms of the number of passports issued behind Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

According to statistics  released by Tivandrum Passport office, 2,22,520 applications were received in 2015 of which more than half were for fresh passports, and the office issued a total of 2,17,562 passports. Compared to the previous year, 2015 saw an increase of 21,000 applications. The revenue earned from issuing passports last year was Rs 32. 72 crore.

The state is third in the country in terms of the number of passports issued behind Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, with 11.44 lakh passports.
