Finally, the long pending dream of Trivandrumites to witness an International Cricket Match on Trivandrum’s soil is finally going to happen. Yes, that’s right! The Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom will soon host an international Twenty-20 Match.
BCCI has announced that Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom will be the venue for the India-Sri Lanka Twenty-20 Match which will be held on December 20. This will be the first ever T20 contest in the state as well.
International Cricket Match is coming to the capital city after almost three decades. This will be the first ever T20 contest in the state as well.
”The T20 game against Lanka will be a success. The stadium boasts of a seating capacity of 54,000 and offers a better view for spectators than the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi. Also, it’s Kerala’s first-ever international T20 fixture,” BCCI vice-president and former Kerala Cricket Association President T C Mathew said.
BCCI has fixed three Test matches of the November-December home series against Sri Lanka to Kolkata, Nagpur and Delhi while the newly-constructed stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati, was awarded a marquee Twenty20 International against Australia in October.
This will be big home season for India as Indian Team will play 23 international matches across three series, starting end of September and concluding at the end of December.
