Trivandrum’s first ‘Short-stay Home’ for women ready for inauguration

The new short-stay home will ensure a secure stay for women, especially those who come to the city alone for interviews or for other needs.

Women travellers who come to the capital for various needs will now have a  safe, economical option for accommodation, as Trivandrum Corporation’s  first short stay home for women is ready for inauguration.  The project will be inaugurated next week.

Civic body’s short-stay home at Sreekanteswaram will offer women travellers with a safe and economical accommodation. The facility is located at the same campus where civic body’s working women’s hostel operates.

Women can check in at the home at an affordable rate of Rs 100 per day.

The short-stay home which has been completed at a cost of Rs25 lakh has two floors providing nine rooms and a dormitory which can accommodate well over 20 persons at a time. There is also a vacant space on the first floor for recreation and another space where clothes can be washed and dried during the stay.

Women can check in at the home at an affordable rate of Rs 100 per day. A person can stay 2-3 days at the short-stay home.  A 24-hour security is will also be provided to the home.

The concept of short stay home was first proposed by the welfare standing committee with a mission to make Trivandrum a women-friendly city. The new short-stay home will ensure a secure stay for women, especially those who come to the city alone for interviews or for other needs.
