Yagna- Dhruva: The techno-cultural fest from LBS Institute of Technology for Women

Yagna-Dhruva is a fest which stands apart from other college fests in that, it involves in various social causes.

LBS Institute of Technology for Women is all set to conduct the National level intercollegiate techno cultural fest called ‘Yagna-Dhruva’.

The sixth edition of Yagna the technical fest and also the fifth edition of Dhruva the cultural fest will be held on March 1st, 2nd and 3rd on LBS college grounds at Poojapura.

Famous playback singer Vidhu Pratap will inaugurate the fest.

Taking up the socially relevant issue of atrocities against women, Yagna-Dhruva conveys the message – ‘STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN’.

Yagna-Dhruva is a fest which stands apart from other college fests in that, it involves in various social causes. The money raised through the fest will go towards the welfare of children who are afflicted with autism. In the previous year, the college was able to raise money for Cancer patients.

Yagna Events

The yagna theme for this year is Space science, marking the 50th year of woman in space.

The highlight of Yagna 2013 is the ‘Tech Olympiad‘, where three teams compete with one another displaying technical, literary and mathematical skills. There will also be a ‘Paper Presentation’ for all the branches from IEEE papers and there will be a special segment called INNOVATIVE PAPER PRESENTATION. The winners stand to gain cash prize of Rs 7000/-

Yagna also features various interesting events such as Robotic -where student teams can display their robots, Skyscrapers in which teams are required to build towers using toothpicks and Travatura where participants build trusses using sticks of given dimension.

Other events include MATLAB coding, Triathlon, Marauder’s Map, Android App development, Web Designing, Art- E -Bazar, Debate, Poster Presentation, Tech word hunt, Minesweeper and so on. All events come with attractive cash prizes for the winners.

The Dhruva fest

Dhruva fest features many exciting and fun filled cultural events. The events include ‘Choreo Video’ a group dance event with teams of 8-12 vying for a cash prize RS 35,000/-. Another exciting event is the ‘ Apparel Design’ a fashion show event. The next one is titled ‘Symphony’ an orchestra event with vocals consisting of both western and eastern bands and the winner will be awarded prize money of Rs 20,000/-.There are also many individual events for showcasing the talents of the students.

Talented singers can aspire for the title of  ‘Voice of Dhruva‘ and the versatile dancers can compete for the title of  ‘Dhruva Idol’. There is also a personality contest for selecting ‘Mr & Ms Dhruva’. Hugely entertaining events like ‘Adaptune’ where anybody can dance, Synchro Dance where two participants of the team are required to mirror steps are designed to captivate the viewers.

Other Dhruva events include Rhythm, Mime, Treasure hunt, Short film making, Round Music, Dubbing, Adzap, Jam sketching, Pencil Sketching, cartooning, Anthakshari, Mehendi designing, Face painting, Rangoli and Dumb charades.

The fest concludes with a rocking ‘Pro Show’ featuring famous playback singer Rahul Nambiar, Stephen Devassy and Q8 band.  Yagna- Dhruva is sure to be an informative as well as entertaining college fest not to be missed at any cost. So make sure you get a ringside view of all the events.
