Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus Malayalam Movie Review by Ashok

Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus is an average flick. You can go for it if there's nothing else to do.

The much awaited Mammootty starred movie Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus which got released today is getting mixed response. Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus is the debutant movie of G Marthandan, who has been assisting many profound directors.

Mammootty is seen in an entirely new avatar in Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus. He plays the role of ‘Cleetus’ a goonda who accidently gets selected to play the role of ‘Jesus Christ’ in a play. What happens to ‘Cleetus’ and those close to him when the events in the life of ‘Jesus’ starts repeating in life of ‘Cleetus’ forms the rest of the story.

The movie which was said as a comedy-mass entertainer fails to justify both genres. The first half of the film can be regarded as a comedy entertaining one, because of the unique characterization of Mammootty. But the later half has failed to keep the track. It has nothing to offer other than so many flashbacks. Though the writer tried to create some suspense in the first half, it wears off in the later half. The climax also is a big let-down.

Direction was average and most the comedy scenes fell flat. The story has a bit resemblance to some other movies and is not content rich. Many of the Dialogues were mediocre too. Mammootty and Suraj have done justice to their role. All other characters have also done their job well.

Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus is an average flick. You can go for it if there’s nothing else to do. Drop your expectations and the film will not disappoint you.
