Priyanka Chopra is playing the role of Mary Kom in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming flick. She may not have any similarities with boxer Mary Kom, but she is working hard to get into shape to play the Olympic bronze medallist.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old actress is trying to make the film in the most genuine way possible.<\/p>\n
“I don’t believe in size zero. Yes, I have lost weight as I am training myself for my next film. I am working hard to build muscles for my character, which is inspired by Mary Kom,” said Priyanka.<\/p>\n
Apart from taking a rigorous physical training for the film, Priyanka has also gone through a complete image make-over to give her looks authenticity at its best. With her hair tied up tightly and her jaw-line also going through slight changes, Priyanka wears no make-up to make herself look realistic. A special make-up test was done on Priyanka with special prosthetic illusions; the makers of the film were keen to modify the pretty face digitally by using VFX instead of prosthetics.<\/p>\n
“It’s not a bio pic but it is a film, which is inspired by her life. I personally find her journey very inspiring. This film talks about how to grab the right opportunity, work hard and how sheer hard work can bring success. I am very nervous about the film as it is very close to my heart,” Priyanka said.<\/p>\n
The film tells the story of Mary Kom, a girl from Manipur who went on to become five-time world boxing champion. Meanwhile,Mary Kom said that she is happy that Priyanka Chopra is going to essay her life and times in the film.<\/p>\n
“Any actress is good enough to play my role. They are all talented. I am happy that Priyanka is doing my role,” Mary said at an event in Mumbai.<\/p>\n
She added that she would love to show the film’s cast and crew on how they lead their lives in Manipur. Mary initially tried to hide her interest in boxing from her family, since it was not considered a suitable sport for a woman. She is the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. She was honoured with Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour.
