Furious 7, the 7th installment of the successful \u2018Fast and Furious\u2019 series is out now and that means we will all get to see the late Paul Walker on the big screen one last time.<\/p>\n

When Paul Walker tragically passed away midway through the shoot of Furious 7<\/a>, Universal Pictures and director James Wan faced a difficult task – how to complete the film without Paul Walker? But thanks to modern technology Universal Pictures was able to complete Furious 7 and release it on time.<\/p>\n

Universal Pictures have declined to give away the tricks that they used in order to breathe life back into Walker\u2019s character. Because the producers want people go into this movie not fixated on trying to work out which is Paul, which isn’t Paul.<\/p>\n

The reports suggest that Paul Walker was brought to life by Peter Jackson\u2019s Weta Digital VFX the same company that made ‘The Lord of the Rings’ ( Shanker\u2019s I). The producers used unused footage of Paul Walker from his previous movies. That\u2019s not all! The producers also brought in Paul Walker’s look-alike brothers Caleb Walker and Cody Walker, a stuntman, to act as body doubles and finish Paul\u2019s remaining scenes. When combined these with CGI, carefully chosen camera angles and the right lighting, they are the spitting image of Paul. And here is the result!<\/p>\n

Paul Walker is not the first actor to get revived through visual effects. Oliver Reed was digitally recreated for his unfinished scenes in Gladiator when he passed away during production and Nancy Marchand had one final scene on The Sopranos after her death.<\/p>\n

For Weta Studios also, this isn\u2019t their first time. Actor Elijah Wood was 18 years old during the filming of ‘The Lord of the Rings'(2001).Ten years later Elijah Wood (now 34) reprised his role as Frodo Baggins in ‘The Hobbit'(2012). Since The Hobbit is a prequel, Elijah Wood would have to be de-aged. Weta Studios digitally softened the wrinkly crags of actor’s face to make him look like a younger hobbit.<\/p>\n

Today, it’s possible to create an actor entirely from digital composites, like this Johnny Walker ad featuring Bruce Lee. It’s not perfect yet but it\u2019s close.<\/p>\n
