After mastering superhero movies with \u201cThe Dark Knight,\u201d flying through time and space in \u201cInterstellar,\u201d and messing with everyone\u2019s minds in \u201cInception\u201d and \u201cMemento,\u201d director Christopher Nolan is taking on a different kind of movie: A historical war drama set in the early days of World War II.<\/p>\n
\u201cDunkirk\u201d is about the story of the historical evacuation of the northern French city during WWII.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The film titled \u201cDunkirk\u201d is about the story of the historical evacuation of the northern French city during WWII. Set to premiere on July 21st, 2017, Dunkirk\u2019s story centers on the 1940 \u2018Operation Dynamo\u2019 \u2013 the evacuation of more than 300,000 British, French and Belgian troops who were surrounded by the German army in the French city of Dunkirk.<\/p>\n
Nolan will direct Dunkirk based on a screenplay he wrote. Casting has not been confirmed but it is rumored that Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hardy are in talks for the film. As usual, Hans Zimmer will be scoring the film.<\/p>\n
Dunkirk will be released world wide on\u00a0July 21st, 2017.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The film will be shot starting this May using a combination of IMAX 65mm IMAX Cameras for \u201cmaximum image quality and high-impact immersion\u201d, continuing Nolan’s campaign to use conventional film instead of digital. The film will be released via Warner Bros.<\/p>\n
This is a change of pace for a director who has been acclaimed for working in the Science Fiction realm and also working on genre pictures. Nolan has never directed a war film so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
