The coast of Kerala is blessed with network of lakes, rivers and canals, which make up the idyllic backwaters attracting several thousand tourists every year. However it seems that our backwaters are being polluted. TourismConcern<\/a> a British charity organization that runs campaigns for better tourism reported that backwaters of Kerala are under threat.<\/p>\n

According to the report, poorly regulated houseboat tourism is affecting water quality, ecosystems, and traditional livelihood of the people. Many of the tourist house boats in Kerala are run on kerosene. Waste from houseboats, petrol and industrial contamination are destroying the sensitive eco-system and reducing the overall quality of the tourist experience.<\/p>\n

The main advantage of solar powered boats is that, they are 100% pollution free<\/strong> with zero carbon footprints.<\/strong> Moreover the boats run without noise, smells or vibration.<\/p>\n
