Train services to and from the Trivandrum Central station were delayed by over three hours due to shunting \u2018irregularities\u2019 what is known as &#8216;<strong>trail thorough<\/strong>&#8216;. The incident put hundreds of people to hardship. Incoming trains to the capital city were held up at Pettah, Kazhakuttam, Kochuveli, Murukkumpuzha and Kadakavoor railway stations. The authorities swung into action under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agrawal to restore the services.<\/p>\n<p>In the preliminary assessment by the Railway Safety wing, it is found that laxity on the part of the station master, shunting master, and loco shunter resulted in the disruption of the train services. The point is a place on the tracks where the rails can be moved to allow a train to change from one track to another. The service got piled up as the shunting operations were done towards the Nagercoil side which had only a single line.
