Subscription rates go as high as <strong>$7.99<\/strong> per month. The move will put Google under direct competition with existing streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon which have been luring viewers away from TV.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read\u00a0<a title=\"\u201cWill you pay for watching YouTube videos?\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/will-you-pay-for-watching-youtube-videos\/\"><strong>W<\/strong>ill you pay for watching YouTube videos?<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Starting Thursday, we&#8217;re launching a pilot program for a small group of partners that will offer paid channels on YouTube with subscription fees starting at $0.99 per month,&#8221; a YouTube blog statement said<\/p>\n<p>The list of 53 channels included in the pilot program include <strong>Laugh Factory VIP, Jim Henson Family TV, National Geographic Kids, ScreamPix, UFC Select, and more<\/strong>. In the coming weeks, YouTube will allow additional channels to adopt the paid subscription model, although content makers will have to meet a set of prerequisites.<\/p>\n<p>Every paid channel will offer a 14 day free trial and many offer discounted yearly rates. The statement also said that the paid subscription will enable content creators to earn more revenue for their creativity. YouTube will be rolling out more paid channels in the coming weeks as a self-service feature for qualifying partners.
