The procedure is simple and doesn\u2019t harm anybody. Swabs from the left and right inner cheeks are collected with a cotton tipped applicator stick. The entire process for each donor will generally take 45 minutes. The collected data will be added to the \u2018<strong>Datri Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry<\/strong>\u2019 which could be useful for needy patients in future. Currently national blood stem cell donor registry has only less than 75, 000 registrations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr.Nalini\u2019s case should be an eye-opener to us. The under- representation of South Asians in international donor registries should be corrected for our own safety,\u2019\u2019 said an organiser.<\/p>\n<p>44-year-old Nalini Ambady Kerala- born Stanford university professor had fought away leukemia 8 years ago, but it relapsed in November.
