Soon, visitors coming to the Museum compound can witness the beautiful sight of rock garden. As part of the ongoing renovation, a rock garden will be set up at the Museum compound at a cost of Rs4.5lakhs. The garden will follow the lines of the one situated at Malampuzha.<\/p>\n
Construction of the first phase of the rock garden will start within a couple of days. The rocks are cut into suitable shapes first, then sharp or uneven edges are worn down eventually producing smooth round stones. Smaller rocks and gravel are used to line ponds and streams. Large trees and beautiful plants will be planted near the garden. The garden will come up between the place near the main entrance and Corporation office.<\/p>\n
The renovation project is undertaken by the Kerala Land Development Board at a cost of Rs2.5 crore. The project includes landscaping, construction of pavilion, waterfalls. Landscaping has entered last phase. A musical fountain, clock room, glass house, restaurant was also envisaged in the renovation project, but was abandoned due to the lack of funds. Currently, the renovation works are carried out in the 5acre land of the museum compound and when this is over, remaining 15 acres of the land will also be renovated.<\/p>\n
