BlackBerry would offer BlackBerry Messaging service, free of charge, to consumers using rival phones.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"BlackBerry Z10 Launched in India; Price in India &amp; Specifications\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/blackberry-z10-launched-in-india-price-in-india-specifications\/\" target=\"_blank\">BlackBerry Z10 Price in India &amp; Specifications<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>BlackBerry says that BBM<\/em> has more than 60 million monthly active users, with more than 51 million using BBM for an average of 90 minutes per day. Its customers collectively send and receive more than 10bn messages daily, with almost half read within 20 second of being received, it said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is such a great experience; it is just too good to keep it only to ourselves. It&#8217;s time to bring BBM to a greater audience,&#8221; said Chief Executive Thorsten Heins.<\/p>\n<p>The BBM will be available once approved for Apple&#8217;s iOS 6 software released last year and devices running Android 4.0 or higher. The new move will put BBM into a fight with other cross-platform messaging apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat and Viber that provide &#8220;over the top&#8221; services.<\/p>\n<p>BlackBerry, under its old name Research In Motion (RIM) invented the concept of on-your-hip email with a series of devices with thumb-operated keyboards. BlackBerry long relied on BBM to keep customers tied to its own devices<\/p>\n<p>Blackberry also launched a new mid-range smartphone called <strong>BlackBerry Q5<\/strong>. Not much is known about it spec.
