The blogging platform comprises 50.6 billion blog posts in 107.8 blogs hosted and claims 117 million visitors in this April itself. Tumblr had reached the doorsteps of famous Web companies like Facebook and Google in first part of 2013 but there were no competing bids for Tumblr reported. According to the deal, Tumblr\u2019s CEO, David Karp, the social media rock star, will be with Yahoo for at least four years. \u00a0What Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer need through this acquisition is all about bringing young audience to Tumblr. As you can guess, lack of younger audience is one of the main problems faced by Yahoo and this acquisition is expected to be a solution for the issue.<\/p>\n

According to the various sources, the acquisition of Tumblr is simply profitable to Yahoo because the service has raised around $125 million in six years and comprises a net value of $800 million. However, this service is not that much mobile friendly, which is a problem in this mobile age and yahoo, has to prove that the service can succeed through mobile devices as well. A $100 million revenue goal is set by the Yahoo according to the sources, which is big when compared to the revenue generated by Tumblr last year. Tumblr was trying to new and interactive advertisement campaigns other than clicking on the image or something, which is rather effective. The company reported a profit of $13 million in 2012, which was expected to be gained from the advertisement campaigns in user dashboards as well as blogs.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, there is a main problem waiting Yahoo. As you know, some pornographic sites are hosted in Tumblr, which can make a negative effect for the company.
