Kerala Tourism is planning to launch Hop-On\/Hop-Off bus service in the state capital to provide sightseeing options to tourists who want to explore Trivandrum city with a more flexible schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Hop-On\/Hop-Off or &#8216;HOHO&#8217; bus services are popular in cities like Delhi where it was first introduced along with Jaipur and a few other cities. The bus service plan was mooted soon after Kerala State Road Transport Corporation introduced &#8216;Heritage City Tourism&#8217; in the capital operated on two double decker buses. Five air-conditioned low-floor Volvo buses, bought under the JNNRUM scheme will be used for the service within the city. These HOHO buses will be operated continuously and tourists can board the bus at any of the pick-up\/drop-off points. Tourists can alight or board the bus from any place using a single ticket. They will have the freedom to plan their itinerary and explore the tourists spots at leisure. The buses will cover famous tourists spots in the city such as <a title=\"East Fort area all set for a major facelift\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/east-fort-area-all-set-for-a-major-facelift\/\" target=\"_blank\">East Fort<\/a>, Kovalam, <a title=\"Shanghumugham Beach \u2013 Run your toes through the sand\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/shanghumugham-beach\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shanghumugham<\/a>, Veli tourist village, Akkulam, Napier Museum, Zoo, Science and Technology Museum, and other landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Hop-On\/Hop-Off&#8217; buses will have tour guides and audio guides and will be equipped with comfortable seats and conceptually designed interior panels. Online booking facility and onboard ticketing facility will be available. At first, the buses will be operated in designated route at fixed frequency. Kerala Tourism will undertake marketing and ticketing of the Hop-On\/Hop-Off services while the crew will be from KSRTC. A sum of Rs.61 lakh has been allocated for the implementation of the project.<\/p>\n<p>The current delay in starting the project is due to\u00a0 the failure\u00a0 in reaching an agreement in the amount sought by the KSRTC for the bus services. The Tourism, Transport and Urban Affairs ministers will meet soon to clear the issue.\u00a0 Tourism Minister A.P.Anil Kumar said that Kerala Tourism will go ahead with the project.
