{"id":10980,"date":"2013-05-29T15:36:14","date_gmt":"2013-05-29T10:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=10980"},"modified":"2013-05-30T11:09:30","modified_gmt":"2013-05-30T05:39:30","slug":"government-to-setup-mini-rccs-and-organ-transplant-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/government-to-setup-mini-rccs-and-organ-transplant-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to setup Mini RCC&#8217;s and Organ transplant institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of decentralising cancer treatment facilities in the state, the government will setup Mini <a title=\"RCC Trivandrum; A real blessing for the Cancer Patients\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/rcc-trivandrum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Regional Cancer Centers (RCC) at Medical college<\/a> Hospitals in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The mini RCC will have the facilities\u00a0 for screening, treatment, and follow-up for breast, cervical, and oral cancers. HealthMinister V S Sivakumar has said that, speciality units such as medical oncology, and surgical oncology would be opened in a phased manner at the Medical College Hospitals of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Kozhikode. Currently, these facilities are only available in RCC Trivandrum and the Malabar Cancer Centre.\u00a0 Doctors who successfully completed the specialist course in the RCC will be appointed in the Mini RCCs. A follow-up treatment facility will also be available at the RCC, MCC and Mini RCCs. Similar cancer treatment facilities will be launched\u00a0 in select government hospitals in districts such as Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, Palakkad, and Kasaragod.<\/p>\n<p>Minister V S Sivakumar has also said that, the government will set up an Organ Transplant Institute at the Medical college,Trivandrum and will enhance the facilities for cadaveric organ transplant programme in the state. Under the\u00a0 Mrithasanjeevani scheme,the MCHs colleges at Trivandrum, Kottayam and Kozhikode will become approved organ retrieval centers. Once the Organ Transplant Institute was established, facilities could be developed to perform heart, liver, and lung transplants in the government sector. As of now,the facilities for renal and cornea transplants are available only in the government sector<\/p>\n<p>To accommodate more patients, multi-disciplinary ICUs, multi-disciplinary labs will be setup at Medical College Trivandrum.
