{"id":11187,"date":"2013-06-07T14:02:41","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T08:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=11187"},"modified":"2013-06-07T14:02:41","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T08:32:41","slug":"railings-put-around-fort-walls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/railings-put-around-fort-walls\/","title":{"rendered":"Railings put around Fort walls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the conservation project to protect the Fort walls, the state Archaeology Department has started putting up railings around the heritage structure.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to install the railing came after it was found that, the heritage structures at the fort area were crumbling owing to neglect. The protective railings have been installed at the inner part of the fort at its northern end.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have already completed the work on the Vettimurichcha Kotta and the East Fort gates. The Archaeology Department had designed a project at cost of Rs 1 crore, to protect the Fort walls and gates in 2011.\u00a0 The Vettimurichcha Kotta had been also in a bad condition as heavy vehicles passing through the narrow gate regularly hit the gate. The authorities have also erected protective railings around the gate posts of the Fort, especially at Pazhavangadi. \u00a0The State Archaeology Department is currently carrying out the preservation works for the revival of heritage structures in the fort area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the conservation project to protect the Fort walls, the state Archaeology Department has started putting up railings around the heritage structure.
