The action from the state police came when Central Home Ministry issued directives to all the states in this regard and the DGP has issued a circular to top police officials in this matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t Miss<\/strong>:\u00a0<a title=\"Police warns public against SMS and e-mail fraud\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/police-warns-public-against-sms-and-e-mail-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\">Police warns public against SMS and e-mail fraud<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The crackdown will be headed by the state&#8217;s special <strong>Cyber Cell<\/strong>. The cell has already identified 654 major websites that serve porn as they are most frequented by Internet users in the state. With the new initiative; the police have issued strict guidelines regarding the viewing of porn to owners of Internet cafes. Even though the Cyber Cell can charge cases against those who caught visiting these sites in cafes, the police had been lenient to users so far considering the large number of people who visits these sites.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, viewers of all ages visit such sites and the main challenge faced by the law enforcers is to restrict teenagers from visiting such sites. Cyber cell also said that Internet cafe owners are ignoring the law because of the money. Most of the students who visit such sites often do so on the pretext of completing their coursework and even girls students are involved in such activities, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Officials agree that merely focusing on cyber cafes would not solve the problem and it has become a common practise among teenagers in the state to view obscene materials on the Internet and exchanging such materials through cell phones. Meanwhile, IT experts are in the opinion that, there are thousands of sites serving porn on the Internet and controlling Cyber cafes is not an effective method.
