{"id":11497,"date":"2013-06-17T12:36:14","date_gmt":"2013-06-17T07:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=11497"},"modified":"2013-06-17T12:36:14","modified_gmt":"2013-06-17T07:06:14","slug":"trivandrum-may-get-an-aeropolis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/trivandrum-may-get-an-aeropolis\/","title":{"rendered":"Trivandrum may get an Aeropolis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kerala Government has sanctioned the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) to conduct a pre-feasibility study for an Aeropolis centred on the <strong>Trivandrum International Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Aeropolis proposal was put forth by the Airport Director in February and the State Planning Board had discussed the proposal in March. It was decided that pre-feasibility study would be done by the KSIDC on aero-related industrial activities that could be undertaken by various Central and State agencies which already have ventures in the city.\u00a0 If the feasibility study is favourable, Trivandrum International Airport and the surrounding area will become an &#8216;<strong>Airport City<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is an Aeropolis?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Aeropolis or Aerotropolis is an innovative concept in which the layout, infrastructure, and economy is centred around an airport, existing as an airport city. It is similar to a traditional metropolis, which contains a central city core and its commuter-linked suburbs. It will have commercial business zones, theme park, entertainment complexes, hotels, meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions and natural conservation and green tourism zones. It will attract people who travel frequently by air or engage in global ecommerce.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal said that Aeropolis is a novel, inclusive growth concept for the premier airport of the State.
