Largest car maker in the country Maruti Suzuki India today launched CNG variant of its multi-purpose van \u2018Ertiga\u2019 at Rs 6.52 lakh onwards.<\/strong> The new variant dubbed as the Ertiga Green<\/em><\/strong>, highlights the MPV’s low emission credentials while running on CNG, a cleaner burning fuel when compared with petrol and diesel. CNG is the third fuel option for the vehicle with MPV already being available in petrol and diesel engines.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continuously work to offer products that are high on fuel efficiency and low on overall cost of ownership. Ertiga Green, with a factory-fitted CNG system, is another step of Maruti Suzuki to meet today\u2019s need of our customers,\u201d company\u2019s Vice-President (Marketing) Manohar Bhat said.<\/p>\n

The vehicle comes in 1.4 Liter K-Series petrol engine which can deliver 94Bhp at 130 Nm.\u00a0 A five speed manual gearbox transmits torque to the front wheels of the MPV. The car is a dual fuel version and the driver can toggle between petrol and CNG modes through a dashboard mounted switch. The CNG tank of the Ertiga Green is expected to replace the third row of seats. The Ertiga CNG comes with the i-GPI technology (intelligent-Gas Port Injection)<\/strong> and uses a dual engine control unit that delivers a calibrated amount of fuel to the engine, thereby achieving good fuel efficiency. The car is capable of delivering a company claimed efficiency of 22.80 km\/kg.<\/p>\n

The MPV will go on sale in all states that have CNG dispensing units. The Ertiga Green<\/em> is the 6th CNG powered car in the Maruti Suzuki stable after Alto 800, the Eeco, the SX4, the WagonR and the Estilo. All these cars are capable of running on petrol or CNG.<\/p>\n
